Hire car driver, wife arrested after Police finds gun, ammo in toy car

A 49-year-old hire car driver and his 35-year-old wife were arrested Tuesday by Police ranks after a Beretta handgun and twenty live rounds of ammunition were found hidden in a toy car in their home at Belvedere Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Police Headquarters in a statement said ranks searched the couple’s home during an intelligence-led operation.
The hire car driver and his wife were told of the offence, cautioned and arrested.
They were subsequently escorted to the Albion Police Station.
The couple remains in custody, pending charges, as investigations continue.
