A 24-year-old Police Constable of Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara, who is attached to the Tactical Service Unit of the Guyana Police Force, was on Thursday granted $200,000 bail for rape of a 15-year-old boy.
Neal Dookram was arrested for rape and engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
Dookram appeared at the Whim Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Alex Moore.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was placed on bail. The matter was postponed until February 16, 2023.
According to reports, Dookram had a sexual encounter with the boy in May 2021 (he was 15 at the time) and a video of the two engaging in sexual activity surfaced recently.
