Officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Friday found seven pounds of cocaine and more than three pounds of marijuana at a house located at Smythe street, Charlestown, Georgetown.

A CANU release reported that officers were engaged in a surveillance operation in the vicinity of Church street, Georgetown, on Friday. Then, a “suspicious transaction” was observed, prompting the officers to pursue one of the suspects to his Symthe street residence.

Officers then searched the house and found five brick-like parcels suspected to be cocaine and two plastic bags with narcotics suspected to be cannabis.

Javed Ragnauth, 28, and Samantha Nasemento, 32, the residents of the Smythe street house along with with Yancy Garraway, 35, of Lot 2 North Road Board Georgetown and Charles Jones, 48, a miner of lot 451 4-mile Housing Scheme Bartica, Region Seven, were arrested and escorted to CANU headquarters with the suspected narcotics.

The narcotics subsequently tested positive for cannabis and cocaine and amounted to 3.312 kilogrammes (or seven pounds) of cocaine and 1.520 kilogrammes (or 3.3 pounds) of cannabis.

    Investigations are ongoing
