Siblings Jason-Ray Khalil and Ashley Khalil have earned enviable bragging rights for a year by emerging champions of the Guyana Squash Association’s Senior National Championship at the Georgetown Club Courts at the weekend.
Jason-Ray, who had an impressive 2022 with inspiring performances at the Commonwealth Games and the Senior Caribbean Championship, defeated former national champion, Alex Arjoon, 11-7, 10-12, 9-11, 11-3, 11-8.
In a rematch of this year’s Senior Caribbean final, Ashley got the better of Taylor Fernandes 11-4, 11-8, 11-8.
In the Men’s third-place playoff, Daniel Ince defeated his cousin Samuel Inc-Carvalhal 3-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-8, while Larissa Wiltshire won the Women’s equivalent via a walkover against Ashley DeGroot.
