Over 40 activities that will showcase Linden’s history, tourism potential and businesses are planned for next year’s Town Week.
The events include sports, bird whistling competition, a health fair, market day, essay writing and debate, pageant, art exhibition, educational events, best yard and community competitions and several parties inclusive of Reggae on the River, All Black, All White, Big People Party, 60’s Party and much more. There will also be several events that will be child and family friendly.
The Linden Town Week is slated to be held from April 23, 2023 to May 01, 2023 under the theme: “Re-envisioning Linden”.
The founder of the Town Week concept, Norvel Fredericks, highlighted that the event has grown tremendously over the years from a Town Day to almost two weeks of activities.
Mayor of Linden, Waneka Arrindell, spoke about the tremendous transformation of the Town from mining to business and tourism and proudly acknowledged the repeated dominance of Linden’s athletic programme.
“We have been blessed with a vibrant council and residents who have pride in themselves, their culture, and their Town, and this coming year will be a celebration of many aspects of our togetherness and strength. As a result of our victory in sports, we have decided to theme Town Week 2023 in black and gold,” Arrindell said.
The Mayor urged all potential partners to come on board as quickly as possible so as to benefit from the massive marketing campaigns that will be run by the council locally and internationally.
