Fitness Express continues support of Powerlifting Championships

The Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) will stage its senior championships on Sunday at the Stanislaus College auditorium from 09:00h and once again, Fitness Express has come on board in a significant manner.

The John and Sheriff Street entity for over a decade has sponsored trophies for the three main competitions of the federation – Novice, Intermediate/Masters, and Seniors – and this year it is no different.

According to Managing Director, Jamie McDonald, “I think that Guyanese powerlifters frequently medal at international competitions throughout the year and do our country proud so it’s important to give support whenever possible to the sport of powerlifting.”

At the last senior championships, Hardat Tarson, who competed in the 83kg men’s open class,  was crowned the overall winner with a total of 762.5kg.

Vijay Rahim dominated the men’s 74kg open raw division with a total of 712.5kg while Angel Chappelle won the women’s 52kg sb-jr raw, while Shelly-Ann Gomes took the honours in the women’s 63kg open raw segment.

Marlon Wilson took gold in the men’s 93kg master 1 raw, while Frank Tucker won the men’s 105kg master 3 EQ division.

The entrance fee for patrons is $1,000.
