Good Intent man arrested with ganja, suspected stolen items


A Good Intent, West Bank Demerara man was arrested on Saturday with less than one pound of marijuana and the police have said that suspected stolen items were also found at his house.

The team of police ranks from the Wales Police Station held a raid exercise in the community of Belle West along the West Bank of Demerara between 04:00hrs and 07:30hrs.

During the exercise, the 27-year-old unemployed man was seen running from a house into a large plot of vegetation.

The ranks pursued the man and he was later captured and escorted back to the house where a search was conducted in his presence.

During the search, a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be ganja was found.

Also, police said two music boxes and two DVD players, suspected to have been stolen, were found.

The man was escorted to the Wales Police Station where the cannabis was weighed in his presence, which amounted to 80.3 grams.

The suspect is currently in custody at the Wales Police Station pending a court appearance.
