A young couple who was found dead in a suspected murder/suicide early on Tuesday tied the knot just four months ago but have been living together for the past two years.

Peter Charles, 31, a barber and licensed firearm holder, reportedly shot his wife, 31-year-old Asasha Ramzan-Charles, twice before turning the gun on himself.

The couple was discovered dead in their Nissan Xtrail vehicle in front of their home at Belle West, Canal No. 2, West Bank Demerara on Tuesday morning.

The News Room understands that the vehicle’s engine was still on and the doors were locked from the inside.

Investigators had to pry open the door to gain access to the couple.

The couple was last seen alive at about 07:00hrs on Tuesday.

Police recovered a .32 semi-automatic pistol with five spent shells from the vehicle; a bullet hole was also found on the back window of the car.

Asasha was shot twice – to her face and head – and her husband was discovered with a bullet wound under his chin.

The bodies were later removed and transported to the West Demerara Regional Hospital and subsequently to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour.

Asasha, known as Sasha, graduated from the Hugh Wooding Law School last year and worked as a State Counsel at the Attorney General Chambers.

She previously lived with her parents and three sisters at Enterprise, East Coast Demerara.

Friends and family of the couple expressed shock at the incident and took to social media to vent their feelings.

Rema Persaud, a friend of Peter, posted on Facebook: “It’s truly a sad moment to hear this news about you my friend we shared a long relationship never would I have never dreamt you were having problems in your relationship. My condolences goes out to the relatives of the deceased. It us such a sad thing indeed when I consider the great loss of life in the spring time of their lives. The young woman who studied so extensively and began practicing as a.n upcoming lawyer as well as the large sums that were spent on her tuition. What a waste in every aspect. It is too late now for me to ask what could have gone wrong. May their young souls rest in peace.
