A gunman stabbed a security guard and tried to infiltrate State House – the official residence of President Irfaan Ali and his family on Thursday morning.
The First Family is safe and the area around State House has been cordoned off by security forces. The security guard has been hospitalised; the condition of the gunman is unknown at this time.
It is unclear if the gunman made it past the security hut. A video has since emerged showing him firing from outside of the Carmichael Street compound.
Reports are that he started firing, asking for the President.
The security responded and he was shot. His identity is unknown at this time.
