U-13 Cricket: Ramtahal spins Trinidad to 3-1 series triumph over Guyana

Trinidad and Tobago won the four-match Goodwill Under-13 cricket series with Guyana 3-1 after standout performer, off-spinner Shaan Ramtahal, had another excellent showing in the final match at the National Stadium, Providence, on Saturday.

Ramtahal took 2-6 from six overs in a miserly spell which carried his tally in the series to 13 wickets.

Chasing 79 for victory in 30 overs, the host were bowled out for 68 in 26.3 overs

Khush Seegobin top scored for the second consecutive match with 15 while Rayaz Latiff made 14, and Nathaniel Ramsammy was left on 11 not out.

In support of Ramtahal were Ra’Ed Ali Khan (2-11) and Tyler Ramroop (2-21).

Due to the weather, the 40-over clash was reduced to 30 overs and Trinidad was bowled out for 78 in 26 overs.

Mikael Ali (14) and Zakarriya Mohammed (12) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as skipper Brandon Henry led the way with 4-9 from six overs with this left-arm spin..

More so, Seegobin’s leg-spin accounted for 2-9 from four overs and pacer Raffel Mc Kenzie nipped 2-25 from five overs while Latiff and Richard Ramdeholl had economical spells in the wet conditions.

Trinidad carted off the individual awards with Ramtahal copping both the player-of-the-match and most wickets awards while teammate Mikael Ali’s tally of 57 was the series leading runs-scorer.

Each player was presented with medals.
