Children, aged 1 and 5, feared dead after boat capsizes in Pomeroon River

Tragedy struck Monday night when a boat capsized in the Pomeroon River, Region Two leaving two children missing.

Their names were not immediately available.

The missing siblings were heading home to Karawab in the Upper Pomeroon in a 75 HP engine speed boat.

Their aunt Colleen Singh was inconsolable on receiving the dreadful news.

She told the News Room that she received a call around 21:00hrs about the incident.

The children’s parents Novita and Biso Atkinson were in the boat when it capsized.

The parents managed to swim to safety ,however, the children were not found.

Singh said she saw the children earlier on Monday and purchased gifts for them.

    This is sad indeed. What words of consolation could one give to the relatives of the young ones. Such young and upcoming shining stars in the prime if their youth. I grieve with their relatives
