Ramsammy retains Mr. Guyana crown; Campbell wins sixth Men’s Physique title
Darious Ramsammy flexed his way to a second consecutive Mr. Guyana title when the Senior Bodybuilding Championships were hosted at the National Cultural Centre on Sunday night.
Ramsammy outscored Nicholas Albert (second), Joel Caldina (third) and Donald Lindie (fourth) in the pose-off for the overall title.
The two-time Mr. Guyana was the lone competitor in the Under-176lbs class, while Caldina finished ahead of Selwyn Gorgan in the Under-165lbs category.
Gorgan won the Masters category, with Colin ‘Mr. Clean’ Chesney and Lindie finishing second and third respectively, while Lindie won the 143lbs class ahead of Kadeem Bowen.
Caldina won the Under-165lbs class, which had him and Gorgan as the two competitors.
Albert topped the 177lbs and Over category, with Michael Sampson (second) and Chesney (third), rounding off the top three.
Meanwhile, Sport Journalist and Fitness instructor, Emmerson Campbell won his sixth Men’s Physique title in seven years, only falling short of gold in 2017, when he finished third.
Campbell, whose bigger goal is securing the elusive International Federation of BodyBuilders Pro Card at next year’s Central American and Caribbean Championships in Aruba, finished ahead of fellow trainer Tariq Dakhil (second) and Jonathan Jeffrey (third).
Christina Ramsammy, who copped silver at this year’s CAC in Barbados, had to settle for the same, as Hannah Rampersaud took gold and Aleyandra Vieira got the bronze.
IFBB Pro Card winner Rosanna Fung won the newly introduced Wellness category, while Ashanti Conway got second.
