Driver in fatal Zeeburg accident remanded to prison

Devon Daziel, a 35-year-old minibus driver of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, was on Tuesday charged with the indictable offence of causing death by dangerous driving.

Daziel was the driver of minibus #BAB 1864, which was involved in an accident that occurred at around 14:30 hrs on December 17, 2022, on the Zeeburg Public Road, West Coast Demerara which resulted in the death of pedestrian Gaitree Sewsankar, a 37- year-old female from Sister’s Village, West Bank Demarara.

Daziel appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Zamilla Ali-Seepaul; he was not required to plea to the charge and he was remanded to prison until January 18, 2023.
