D.C. Caesar Fox Secondary (Waramadong) will represent Guyana against St. Benedict’s College of Trinidad and Tobago in the final of the third KFC Goodwill School Football tournament, slated for Friday evening at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.

Both sides progressed to the final after hard-fought semi-final victories on Wednesday evening.

Waramadong continued their unbeaten run in the tournament with another fine display in soggy conditions to dispatch of Christianburg Wismar Secondary 2-0 in the second semi-final.

Goals on both sides of the half ensured the lads from Region Seven went one step closer to their first title in the tournament.

Deomar Henrito (33rd) and Bevon Jones (88th) were the men on target for Waramadong.

They would certainly head into the final with high confidence, given they defeated St. Benedict’s College 2-0 in their final group match on Monday.

Annai Secondary (blue) battled hard with St. Benedict’s College, but missed out on a spot in the final

Meanwhile, St. Benedict’s will seek to emulate their fellow Trinidadian team, Shiva Boys’ Hindu College, who won the inaugural edition, but would be conscious they would be up against a team who has the best form as they transition from defense into attack in conditions less than favourable.

The Trinidadians managed to stop the fairytale final between defending champions Annai Secondary and Waramadong by coming from behind to beat the strong Region Nine outfit 2-1.

Annai had taken the lead in the 20th minute via Davey Jacobus, and St. Benedict’s College responded 19 minutes later with the equaliser from Jarrell Griffith.

The battle swung post to post until Raheem Nelson struck the winner in the 80th minute.

Though the tournament caters to Under-18 footballers, this Trinidadian team largely comprises U-16 players. According to the team’s management, they are impressed with Guyana’s school football level.

The third-place playoff between Annai and Christianburg is slated for 17:30h, with the final starting at 19:30h on Friday evening.
