Police identify getaway car used in murder of gold heist suspect


Investigators have identified the getaway car used by the perpetrator who fatally stabbed Sabutaro Singh, the suspect in the $400 million gold heist.

Police headquarters provided a photograph of the getaway car on Saturday; it is a white Toyota Premio.

“The Guyana Police Force is asking the public if they can assist with any other information about the owner or driver of the said motorcar,” the headquarters said in a statement.

Singh, a carpenter and part-time vendor of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara was fatally stabbed on Regent Street, Georgetown at about 18:00hrs on Wednesday night.

He was previously charged with several others for simple larceny in relation to the $400 million gold heist which occurred at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara between December 2021 and January 2022.
