Guyanese men arrested as Suriname probes murder of Chinese shopkeeper

Several Guyanese allegedly involved in robberies and the murder of a Surinamese shopkeeper have been arrested by officers from the Dutch-speaking country.

According to a report from Suriname’s Waterkant News, one suspect identified as Kevin C. was recently arrested in the investigation into the murder of a female Chinese shopkeeper on Pandit Paltan Tewarieweg.

Additionally, six other unnamed men were arrested; four of those men are of Guyanese origin. Two of the detained Guyanese men are also wanted for robberies.

A seventh suspect in the murder probe was reportedly arrested before but he was shot dead last weekend. According to reports, he was in the getaway car used in the robbery of the woman’s supermarket.
