Vishan Ramphal, a 19-year-old motorcyclist of Lot 5 Campbell Street, Belvedere, Corentyne, died on Tuesday morning following a hit-and-run accident at Main Street, New Amsterdam, Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne).
Ramphal was riding his motorcycle (CJ 4962) with Renita Prechand, 18, as the pillion rider on Tuesday.
The News Room understands that Ramphal was heading north on the eastern lane at a fast rate when motorcar (#PJJ 3534) crashed into him.
The impact hurled him and the young lady into the air before they crashed into a concrete arch block on the western side of Main Street.
They were both picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Ramphal was pronounced dead while Prechand was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital with a broken right leg and arm.
Police are searching for the driver of the car who fled the scene after the accident.
