The Guyana Police Force has launched what it said is a “comprehensive probe” into Sunday’s shooting death of Detective Corporal 31-year-old Dwayne McPherson, and a 20-year-old fisherman Kishan Budburgh of Grove Huntley, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

The shooting incident occurred after midnight at Huntley Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

The News Room understands that McPherson, who is stationed at the Mahaicony Police Station and two other patrol ranks, were responding to a report of a stabbing incident at Airy Hall.

The Guyana Police Force would not release more details but said it intends to give regular updates as the investigation progresses.

But reports are that the policeman was shot twice and the fisherman some four times.

At least two cops have since been arrested and are in custody assisting with investigations.
