Doctor remains hospitalised after three-vehicle collision at Fort Wellington
A doctor attached to the Fort Wellington Hospital in Region Five remains hospitalised a day after she was involved in an accident in front of the Regional Democratic Council building.
Dr. Michelle Paul was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital in a stable condition, Regional Commander Senior Superintendent Kurleigh Simon has told the News Room.
According to Commander Simon, three vehicles were involved in the accident which occurred just after 19:00hrs on Monday.
Dr Paul was proceeding along the Fort Wellington Public Road in her SUV when a car attempted to overtake her but ended up crashing into her. This resulted in Dr Paul losing control of her vehicle, slamming into another car coming in the opposite direction.
The SUV then spun several times before colliding with a utility pole and then came to a halt in the RDC compound.
Commander Simon related that the driver of the car that overtook Dr Paul initially fled the scene and left his vehicle behind.
However, later on Monday night, he turned himself over to Police and is now hospitalised with injuries from the accident.
The driver of the other car was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
