Illegal firearm, ammo, drugs seized during house raid at Plaisance
An illegal 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun, along with four live matching rounds and 580 grammes of marijuana, were seized during a house raid at Robert Road, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.
Police Headquarters said ranks stationed at the Sparendaam Police Station visited the two-bedroom house around 5:15hrs on Friday.
The firearm and ammunition were found in the first bedroom in the presence of the two occupants, a 30-year-old labourer who resided at the house and his next-door neighbour, a 23-year-old plumber.
The suspects were asked if they were licensed firearm holders but remained silent. They were then told of the offence committed, cautioned, and arrested.
A further search was conducted in the second bedroom where the marijuana was found in a black plastic bag containing 286 transparent zip-lock bags.
The suspects were placed in custody pending further investigation.
