Firefighters are trying to contain a major fire that erupted at the Christ Church Secondary School in Georgetown on Thursday afternoon.
This is the second fire within a week at the school.
Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn had stated that the first fire started inside one of the school’s laboratories and that all combustible materials were expected to be removed.
Teachers watched with tears in their eyes as the Grade A school was destroyed on Thursday.
Minister of Education Priya Manickchand was also holding back tears as she watched the building burn.
“This is very disturbing to watch,” Manickchand said.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
