Kemol Savory has answered the call of the Guyana Harpy Eagles’ management of converting starts as he smashed a superb 170 that should greatly enhance his chances of a maiden First-Class nod.
His marvelous knock came off just 192 balls and was decorated with 17 fours and five sixes which has placed Tagenarine Chanderpaul XI in a healthy position of 378-6 at the end of day two in their Four-Day practice match at the National Stadium, Providence, on Sunday.
Just like Matthew Nandu, who made 78 on day one, Savory is well aware of the batting spots up for grabs for the first match on February 1 against Barbados Pride in Antigua.
Batting a three, the stylish left-hander from Essequibo shared a 100-run stand with Anthony Bramble (28) for the fourth wicket.
He also had important stands of 72 with Chanderpaul and 52 with Mavindra Dindyal, who made 11.
Chanderpaul, who is warming up for the two-Test tour of Zimbabwe later this month, made a patient 52 from 113 balls and shared an opening stand of 60 with Chandrapaul Hemraj, who struck a brisk 40 from 43 balls.
Kevin Sinclair (40* off 50 balls) and Antony Adams (5*) are the men at the crease when action resumes Monday from 09:30h.
