Matthew Nandu continues to impress in the Guyana Harpy Eagles practice matches with another half-century but his fellow batsmen, yet again, failed to make the most of their starts on day one of the Four-Day match at the National Stadium, Providence.

The left-hander, who had scores of 78 and 24 in the previous match, faced 114 balls and struck six fours in his close-to-three-hour stay at the crease on Wednesday.

The West Indies Under-19 captain shared a 72-run opening stand with Everest Cricket Club teammate, Chandrapaul Hemraj, who breezed to 46 (7x4s; 2x6s) from 36 balls until he was dismissed by Nial Smith.

Shamar Yearwood (37) was the next best score and the experienced Leon Johnson did not push on from his 25 while Akshaya Persaud got 22 as Tevin Imlach XI was bowled out for 226 from 75.4 overs.

Chandrapaul Hemraj made a quick 46 before he was dismissed

Skipper Gudakesh Motie led his team with 3-8 from 8.4 overs while off-spinners Richie Looknauth (2-29) and Junior Sinclair (2-33) played supporting acts.

Ashmead Nedd took 1-16 followed by Ronaldo Alimohamed (1-20) and Smith (1-47).

Pacer Shamar Joseph, who continues to impress in the practice matches, bagged two late wickets to leave Gudakesh Motie XI 46-2.

Joseph got Rampertab Ramnauth, after a  fluent 24, and Ronsford Beaton (4).

Tagenarine Chanderpaul (12*) and Mavindra Dindyal (6*) will resume day two from 09:30h.
