Security guard shoots boy, 15, while cleaning gun

A 15-year-old boy was accidentally shot in his chest on Wednesday night by a 20-year-old security guard who was reportedly cleaning his 9mm pistol at the time.

The teen is hospitalised in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The security guard who has been identified as Mohan Mottoo also shot himself in his hand.

“It was an accidental shooting and we are investigating,” Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean told the News Room.

The incident occurred within the vicinity of Bourda Market in Georgetown.

    So since when cleaning a weapon is safe when it is loaded. I suspect that this story is a false narrative. Mishandling of a weapon renders the person who has the responsibility to do so safely, incompetent to have such a deadly weapon. A full investigation is required.
