Four newcomers in Guyana Harpy Eagles Four-Day squad

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) on Friday evening announced a 13-man Guyana Harpy Eagles squad for the first two rounds of the West Indies Four-Day Championship 2023.

The squad, which was selected after two Four-Day practice games at the National Stadium, Providence, includes four uncapped players.

They are left-handed batting pair Matthew Nandu and Kemol Savory, left-arm spinner Ashmead Nedd and exciting young fast bowler Shamar Joseph.

The Harpy Eagles will once again be led by the experienced Leon Johnson, with veteran left-arm spinner Veerasmmy Permaul his deputy.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles squad reads: Leon Johnson (Captain), Veerasammy Permaul (Vice-captain), Chandrapaul Hemraj, Matthew Nandu, Kemol Savory, Tevin Imlach, Anthony Bramble, Kevin Sinclair, Nial Smith, Ronsford Beaton, Akshaya Persaud, Ashmead Nedd and Shamar Joseph.

The reserves are Mavindra Dindyal, Kevlon Anderson, Demitri Cameron, Richie Looknauth and Antony Adams.

The Manager is Albert Clements, Head Coach Ryan Hercules, Assistant Coach Garvin Nedd, Cricket Analyst Keshava Ramphal and Physiotherapist Angelica Holder.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles will play Barbados Pride at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua from February 1-4, and the Windward Islands Volcanoes at the National Stadium in Grenada from February 8-11.

Prior to departure for Antigua on January 29, the squad and reserves will be engaged in training sessions from January 23-27 at the National Stadium, Providence.
