Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance Gail Teixeira is performing the duties of President as both President Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister Brigadier (ret’d) Mark Phillips are out of the country.
The announcement was made by the Speaker of the National Assembly Manzoor Nadir at the start of the 2023 Budget Debate on Monday.
The News Room understands that Attorney General Anil Nandlall is performing the duties of the Prime Minister.
President Ali is in Trinidad attending the Trinidad Energy Conference while Prime Minister Phillips is in for the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the community of Latin America and the Caribbean.
