Brazilian drug traffickers were charged, released on bail but failed to report to CID – Police

Two Brazilian nationals who are wanted by the Guyana Police Force for drug trafficking were actually charged and released on bail and were required to report to the Narcotics Branch, Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Headquarters but they never did.

Police on Tuesday issued wanted bulletins for 53-year-old Paulo Sergio Petter and 33-year-old Agusto Altroitar. Their last known addresses are unknown.

A few hours later, Police updated the bulletins and said the men were in fact released on bail when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Petter was placed on $80,000 bail while Altroitar was placed on $180,000 bail.

According to the Police, the men may have fled the jurisdiction.

The Police did not provide further details but noted that the date of the incident was December 11, 2022.
