Ahead of competing at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) World Championships in Serbia next month, the Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GMMAF) has yet again received the support of Mohamed’s Enterprise.

On Wednesday, the company donated G$1M towards the team’s participation, which will occur from February 9-19, where they are also the lone representative from the Caribbean.

Gavin Singh, President of the GMMAF, thanked the company for their unwavering support, adding that the event provides the platform for the association and its athletes to be recognized on the international circuit.

He revealed that the medical aspect of the team’s preparation is also of vital importance as drug testing is a requisite of international participation, adding that the entity has conceptualized plans for the staging of local competition which will be announced shortly.

Nazar Mohamed, Proprietor of Mohamed’s Enterprise, said that the entity is proud to support the GMMAF once again, adding that he is an avid follower of the discipline and that the progression and development of the local combat sports sector is important.

He further stated that vision is required for the athletes and the sport to develop, noting that the local federation should be commended for once again participating on the international scene as it will provide the platform for the athletes to represent and make their country proud.

Meanwhile, GMMAF executive Dr. Sawan Jagnarain  stated that the GMMAF has staged several seminars and lectures to educate the athletes on what is required on the international stage.

This will be Guyana’s second participation at the World Championship and third overall international event. Guyana made its international debut at the IMMAF Amateur World Championship in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in January 2022. The team comprised Ijaz Cave and Carlos D’Anjou.
