The Government Analyst – Food and Drug Department (GA-FDD) is alerting consumers of the recall of Diet Pepsi with batch number 0946DG03242.

This product is suspected to be maliciously tampered with to extend its shelf life, the government entity noted in a press release issued on Friday.

The Diet Pepsi under investigation was manufactured by Pepsico Canada ULC, Mississauga, Canada but carries a stamped Best Before date of December 15, 2023.

According to the Food and Drug Department, careful inspection of the product will reveal the actual expiration date of August 15, 2022, engraved on the bottom of the can.

“This extension of the shelf life is false, misleading and deceptive and is likely to create an erroneous impression of the genuineness of the product,” the press release noted.

The GA-FDD is therefore urging consumers to NOT consume the recalled product and if you have the implicated product in your home, DISCARD immediately.

Consumers are urged to inspect all products upon purchase and report any substandard food, drug, cosmetic or medical device seen on the local market.

Complaints or reports can be made to the nearest Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) or the GAFDD. If you have questions about the recall, contact the GA-FDD on 222-8859/60 or 222-8934 for further information.
