Police have arrested a 55-year-old businessman of Vryheid, West Canje Berbice after he reportedly attacked his reputed wife at Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice on Sunday afternoon.
The News Room understands that 36-year-old Deoranie ‘Marcia’ Badal sustained chop wounds to her head and right hand.
A Police press release note that the incident occurred on Sunday at about 13:10hrs at the Jamrock Wash Bay.
Reports indicate that the couple has been separated for the past three months but on the day in question, Badal was at the wash bay when the suspect exited a car with a cutlass in hand.
He reportedly walked up to Badal’s vehicle and began chopping at the windscreen. Fearful for her life, Badal exited the vehicle and then the suspect charged at her.
A Policeman, who was at the scene, intervened and took the victim to the hospital.
