Trio remanded for allegedly trafficking $1.1M worth of cocaine

A 63-year-old woman along with two men, were on Monday remanded to prison by City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for allegedly trafficking $1.1M worth of cocaine.

Lena Narine called ‘Aunty Lena’, 63;  Sherman Edmonson, 54 both of Santiniketan Street, Prasad Nagar, Georgetown, and Earl Branch, 49, of Pike Street, Kitty pleaded not guilty to the drug trafficking charge.

Particulars of the charge alleged that the trio on January 28, 2023, at Santiniketan Street, had 1.050 kilograms of cocaine in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The trio was remanded to prison until February 13, 2023.

According to a release from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), on the day in question, ranks went to Narine’s Santiniketan Street home and conducted a search during which they discovered a brick-like parcel of cocaine.

In April 2020, Narine was among five persons charged after CANU ranks unearthed $12M worth in cocaine and ecstasy at her Santiniketan Street home.  She is currently out on $500,000 bail for this crime.
