Reliable sources have confirmed that Guyana Harpy Eagles’ debutants Matthew Nandu, Kemol Savory, and Shamar Joseph were not officially presented with their First-Class caps on Wednesday morning, before the start of day one of their Regional Four-Day match against Barbados Pride at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua.

It is customary that debutants receive their caps ahead of play via a brief ceremony.

The source further indicated that while the Harpy Eagles could not furnish the new players with their official caps, Barbados Pride had for their three debutants.

It is not clear at this point if the Guyanese players will be presented with their caps- a symbol of accomplishment- during the course of today or during the game.

Media operatives have reached out to officials of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) for a comment on the issue.

A press release, a Board official indicated via the GCB Media WhatsApp Group, will be issued on the matter.

Prior to the Harpy Eagles’ departure on Sunday, there was widespread outrage over the composition of the squad, and that further intensified following the explanations given by the Senior Selection Panel.

Meanwhile, Harpy Eagles are having a bat-first against Pride.
