The body of a 45-year-old mechanic was on Tuesday morning discovered in a trench in front of the Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD) mandir.
Dead is Kevin Singh of Lot 2 Industry, ECD.
The News Room understands that Singh was last seen alive by his relatives on Sunday morning.
During an interview with the News Room, his son, Brandon Singh explained that it was a norm for his father to leave home for long periods and later return.
He said the elder Singh would imbibe alcohol on a frequent basis.
Brandon said the family became worried on Monday morning after they realised Singh did not return home. As such, he said they searched and enquired from residents as to whether he was spotted at any time.
“We checked the bars. We asked the guard at the nursery school. She said she saw him crossing the bridge but she don’t know what happen after,” Brandon said.
According to Brandon, at around 06:20hrs Tuesday, his grandmother received a call informing her that Singh’s body was discovered in the trench.
“We just got the call that they found his body at the trench in front of Ogle mandir,” he said.
The trench, Brandon said is a five-minute walk from his father’s home.
The Police were summoned and an investigation has been launched.
