The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Keith Rowley are among the high-level officials coming to Guyana next week for the International Energy Conference and Expo.

This second annual conference will be hosted at the Marriott Hotel in Kingston, Georgetown, from February 14 to 17.

In addition to the Prime Ministers, the President of Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi and the former President of Colombia, Ivan Duque Marquez will be in attendance. They will be joined by Guyana’s President, Dr. Irfaan Ali, who will deliver the event’s keynote address on Tuesday.

Other industry leaders and local and regional stakeholders are expected to present on various aspects of Guyana’s energy future during the week of events. Guyana’s Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo is expected to lead talks on the country’s ambitious energy policy.

The event’s Chief Executive Officer, Kurt Baboolall, on Tuesday told the News Room that the event should be a single space for stakeholders to come together and discuss Guyana’s energy future.

“…we want to make sure that we reach out to everyone that is involved, each level of stakeholders,” Baboolall said.

With over 180 exhibitors expected too, Baboolall is encouraging interested Guyanese, especially young professionals, to bring along their curricula vitae so that they can connect with businesses and potentially secure training and/or employment opportunities.
