Providing more services to persons living along the East Bank corridor, former Guyana and West Indies cricketer Ramnaresh Sarwan on Saturday commissioned a new wing of the Amazonia Mall.

With the further expansion of the mall located at Providence, East Bank Demerara – a state-of-the-art facility boasting modern architecture, restaurants, cinemas, and clothing stores – the doors to several new stores also opened.

Some of these stores include FabFlowers, Tashman, Dental Stuart, Mandiis, SfihaWorld, Madd tea, CT Williams technologies Inc.

During brief remarks, Sarwan thanked the contractor for supporting the vision for the mall and the store owners for cooperating with him.

“When we originally started, it was always meant to be a U shape building but then it changed into an L shape building due to parking.

“When we were allowed the parking we were able to extend the way we want to but of course, this work took the work of a lot of people including the contractors who have done and extremely good job,” the mall’s proprietor said.

Sarwan also extended a hearty welcome to the new store owners occupying the wing. “I would also like to welcome the new store owners. I look forward to working with you.”

Sarwan said the idea for the mall started 10 years ago and people can expect high standards of service from the mall. This new wing adds to the many improvements the mall has undergone since its opening in July 2021.

Already, the mall is home to the Caribbean Cinemas Theater, several businesses, restaurants, Massy Store supermarket and the Fitness53 gym.

The latest addition to the mall was the Payless store which opened its second branch at the mall, providing people with the right trend, quality and comfortable shoes at the best possible price.
