Team Mohamed’s, Guyana’s premier Drag Racing unit, is challenging all to put their machines on the line against them when the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) stages its first Drag Racing meet for the year at the South Dakota Circuit on February 19.

In a recent Facebook post, Team Mohamed’s stated, “For years, drag racing fans are left disappointed for the mere fact that the competitors with the big cars with similar power as Team Mohamed’s GTRs refused to compete.

Come on February 19, 2023, Team Mohamed’s is challenging all competitors to come forward and entertain the fans to the fullest.”

For varying reasons, ranging from mechanical to weather conditions, the highly-anticipated battles between Team Mohamed’s and other well-established teams do not materialise.

“It is based on this fact, that the GTRs compete among themselves leaving questions on the minds of the thousands who flock to the South Dakota Circuit,” the post read.

“Win or lose, Team Mohamed’s think that the event should be about good sportsmanship, entertaining the crowd and providing valuable excitement.”

Meanwhile, the team visited the South Dakota facility on Friday and expressed disappointment with the condition of the drag strip, having made significant financial investments over the years.

In January, the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) indicated the strip could soon be relocated to a different part of the track to allow for the continued development of Circuit racing.

The GMR&SC is toying with the idea of placing the strip to the South-East section of the track (the run-off area of the current Drag strip), and it would end before it reaches the extended part of the circuit.

The current Drag Strip is also part of the Circuit racing track and proves to be hazardous, especially when wet, due to the chemicals applied for Drag racing.

In the lead-up to February 19, Team Mohamed’s stated they will make the necessary investments to have the strip in the best shape for the race meet.
