Bachan Narine, a 64-year-old man of Lot 33 Eighth Street Martyrsville, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was found dead in a bedroom on Tuesday.
Police Headquarters reported that an anonymous caller contacted the Beterverwagting Police Station and reported that an obnoxious scent was emanating from Narine’s house.
Several officers visited the house at about 10:20hrs when they found Narine lying motionless and naked on a bed. The body was reportedly in a state of decomposition but no marks of violence were observed.
Officers later found out that the man suffered from long-term liver damage and lived alone.
Neighbours told investigators that Naraine was last seen on Friday at about 08:00hrs, imbibing alcohol at his residence.
The body was taken to the Beterverwagting Health Center, then to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for storage and an autopsy.
