The decomposed body of Berbice cattle farmer  was discovered in his house on Thursday.

Dead is Heeralall, 53, of Lot 113 Palmyra Village, East Canje, Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne).

The News Room understands that Heeralall’s niece made the discovery after she had not seen him since Monday.

The niece reportedly told Police that on Sunday, her aunt who lived with Heeralall, left to visit some relatives in Georgetown. The niece added hat she visited her uncle on Monday and that he was alive and well then.

When a few days passed without her hearing from her uncle, she opted to visit him.

But as soon as the man’s niece arrived at his Palmyra house, there was a pungent scent emanating from the premises. And as she made her way into the house, she said she found her uncle’s body in a badly decomposed state on a bed in his bedroom.

She contacted the Guyana Police Force shortly after.

Upon their arrival, police officers reportedly examined the man’s body for marks of violence. Because of the extent of decomposition, that could not be determined.

The man’s remains are presently at the Bailey’s Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the News Room understands that preliminary investigations revealed that the man consumed large amounts of marijuana regularly and is a “chain smoker of cigarettes and would consume alcohol regularly.”

An investigation is underway.
