It was reported that on February 14, at about 15:05hrs, a party of Police ranks, led by an Inspector, were on patrol duty at Araimu Main Road, Region Seven, when they stopped motor pick-up GXX 5497. Williams, along a 22-year-old passenger, were sitting in the front seat.

The ranks requested to search the vehicle when Williams indicated that he had a firearm in the vehicle. The ranks examined the 12 gauge, single-barrel shotgun, which contained the cartridges. The serial number was also filed off.
