Motorcyclist dies in Vlissengen road accident

Anthony Pierre, 21, popularly known as ‘Chip’ of West Ruimveldt Estate Scheme, Georgetown died in an early morning accident on Monday.

A statement from Police Headquarters noted that the accident occurred at about 00:20 hrs on Vlissengen Road, Georgetown.

According to reports, the 21-year-old man was riding motorcycle (CK 7223) on  Vlissengen Road in the vicinity of the Botanical Gardens, allegedly at a fast rate of speed, when he lost control and fell off the motorcycle.

As a result, Pierre collided with a utility pole and sustained several injuries to his head and his body.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) who responded to the incident, pronounced Pierre dead at the scene.

The man’s body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Further investigations are in progress.
