Two security guards attached to GuyAmerica Security Service were arrested and a firearm with matching ammunition was seized by the police after one of them was seen in a viral social media video firing a gun indiscriminately.
The Guyana Police Force did not release the men’s identity but said it is clear from the video that one of the men discharged the firearm handed to him by the other.
A statement noted that ranks went to the security firm in Eccles Industrial Estate, East Bank Demerara on Sunday.
There, a firearm and matching ammunition rounds were taken into possession.
Police said initially that the two men were being sought but were later arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
