Passenger from US busted with 12 ‘joints’ at CJIA

A 30-year-old man of New Jersey, United States of America, was arrested after being caught with 12 rolled joints of marijuana at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) on Thursday.

A press release from the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) noted that officers of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) and CANU were performing duties at the airport when they searched Julius Seaforth, who was an incoming passenger.

Following the discovery of the marijuana on his person, Seaforth was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic which tested positive for cannabis.

The probe is ongoing.
