A house and three vehicles were destroyed in a fire at Second Street, Foulis, East Coast Demerara on Thursday.
The Guyana Fire Service said that the owner of the house, 44-year-old Balram Singh and his family of three are now homeless.
The fire occurred at around 17:25hrs; water tenders from the Melanie and Mahaica fire stations were immediately dispatched to the location.
The structure involved was a one-storey wooden building; by the time the fire was extinguished, the building and its contents were destroyed.
Also affected by the fire were two houses located on the eastern and western sides of the building of origin, respectively.
Both buildings suffered damage to a quantity of window panes, PVC pipe, and guttering, as well as an eastern wall, due to radiated heat from the building of origin.
Three vehicles that were destroyed belonged to 43-year-old Poramraj Singh and were all parked under the building of origin.
The Fire Prevention Department is currently investigating what caused the fire.
