Inclement weather in the county of Berbice has forced the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee to shift the ‘Opening Day Stakes’ to March 5 at the Rising Sun Turf Club, West Coast Berbice.
The season-opening race was initially scheduled for Sunday February 26.
“Due to inclement weather conditions, races carded for Sunday 26th February, 2023 at Rising Sun Turf Club, have been postponed to Sunday 5th March, 2023. Races and entries remain the same,” Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee announced on Friday.
The event will feature top local and imported horses battling for $8 million in cash and prizes.
Gates will open at 10:00h and patrons will get free parking and a programme.
