Housing Ministry inks $15.47B in contracts for works in Region Three

The Ministry of Housing and Water on Friday inked 35 contracts valued at $15.47 billion for infrastructure development works in three communities in Region Three (Essequibo Islands- West Demerara).

Those communities are: Meten- Meer- Zorg (Phase III, Lots One to 10), Stewartville (East and West, Lots One to 19) and Leonora (Phase II, Lots One to Six).

Of the 35 contracts, two are slated for retendering. Meanwhile, 10 contracts are for works at Meten-Meer- Zorg, 19 for Stewartville and six for works at Leonora.

Khan’s Enterprise secured the largest contract in the Region- some $724.7 million- for works at Leonora. L’heureusse Construction and Services Inc. secured a $723.6 million contract for works at Meten-Meer- Zorg.

These contracts were part of the 126 contracts inked on Friday by the Housing and Water Ministry. The contracts all amounted to $56.8 billion. In total, three contracts (including the two in Region Three) are slated for retendering.
