Eduardo Alexander Moore, a 44-year-old man of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arrested on Friday after he was nabbed with 2.4 kilogrammes (or about 5.3 pounds) of cocaine, worth about $2.3 million.
According to a release from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), officers conducted an operation in the vicinity of Albert Street, between Regent and Charlotte Streets, Georgetown on Friday.
During that operation, Moore was intercepted. Officers then proceeded to search the backpack he carried with him and discovered two brick-like parcels suspected to be cocaine.
Moore was then escorted to CANU’s Headquarters with the suspected narcotic, which was weighed and examined. The narcotics tested positive for cocaine.
Previously, in 2019, CANU said Moore was arrested and charged for trafficking 117 pounds of marijuana. He was later sentenced to three years imprisonment.
