Police are on the hunt for two gunmen who reportedly robbed two receptionists on Saturday night at the Double Day Hotel and Rental at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.

Police Headquarters reported that the alleged robbery occurred at around 17:30hrs; the two women, ages 19 and 20, are from Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.

They told the Police that an unidentifiable male entered the building with a black cloth wrapped around his face and a gun in his hand; he was wearing a red jersey and blue short, three-quarter pants.

The 19-year-old receptionist said the suspect approached her, told her to get up from where she was seated and demanded money. Shortly after, another male entered the building and his face was wrapped with grey cloth; he was wearing a black jersey and three-quarter pants.

The women claimed that both suspects then demanded money and the bandit with the gun took away their cellphones – an iPhone 8 valued at $85,000, and one Samsung A03, valued at $30,000.

The bandits also took GY$7,000 from a drawer, the property of the 35-year-old businessman and owner of the hotel.

They escaped and a report was made to the Police.
