A fisherman of Good Hope Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara was arrested in the wee hours of Monday after police ranks stumbled upon marijuana while searching his house for drugs, ammunition and wanted persons.
In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said its ranks led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police conducted a cordon-and-search exercise at about 04: 00 hrs.
During the search, police ranks found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis on his bed.
The fisherman was arrested, cautioned and escorted to the Sparendaam Police Station along with the suspected cannabis.
When weighed the marijuana amounted to 27 grams.
