Kevin Sinclair and Anthony Bramble were the stars for Berbice on the final day as they defeated Demerara by six wickets in the first round of the Senior Inter-County Four-Day tournament at the National Stadium, Providence, on Tuesday.

Bramble smashed a whirlwind 51* (9x4s; 1×6) from 26 balls that led a brisk chase of 110 in just 14.2 overs.

Johnathan Foo cracked a 15-ball 31 (4x4s; 2x6s) in support as Berbice comfortably won on the return of senior Inter-County cricket after nine years.

All-rounder Christopher Barnwell, back challenging for a spot in the national setup, threatened the small chase with 3-28 from seven overs, and ended with match figures of 7-82 from 26 overs.

Resuming on 61-3, and a lead of 13, Demerara was bundled for 157 as Kevin Sinclair continued his good form to pick 6-43 from 19 overs and take his match tally to 8-92 from 36 overs.

Former West Indies Youth batsman Sachin Singh made a patient 66, striking seven fours and one maximum in 173 balls while Leon Johnson got 34 and Barnwell made 17 as the remaining batsmen fell for single-digit scores while extras mounted to 23.
