Peter Gordon, 31, of Fellowship, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara was arrested on Monday by ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) after he was found with approximately 5lbs. (2.144 kg) of marijuana.
CANU, in a statement, said the narcotics have a street value of $643,200.
The law enforcement officials had intercepted a motor car bearing Registration number PZZ 2006 in the vicinity of Hill Street between Durban and Norton Streets, Lodge.
A subsequent search of the said vehicle revealed two brick-like parcels suspected to be cannabis.
Gordon was escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic which tested positive for cannabis.
Investigations are ongoing.
